Cranberry and white bowlKate Gooding and Jill Lebor are experienced artists of long standing in fine art, ceramics, stained glass, blown glass and jewelry. Their new venture into kiln fired glass is exciting and challenging, calling on their wide knowledge gained over the years.

In their workshop in the village of Boughton in Kent, Hot Glass techniques are used to create exciting and original pieces that can be both decorative and practical. The designs are first made into flat panels by cutting sheets of different coloured glass to be fused together in a kiln at temperatures of around 760°C depending on the final effect required.

They are put back into the kiln at a lower temperature on moulds or draped over forms to create the finished shape. Some panels are left flat; these are set in stands or framed, allowing the light to shine through the vibrant colours making the most of the intrinsic quality of the glass. The resulting pieces are highly individual and can never be repeated exactly.
